Note: Obituary; HOWARD C. LAYTON, 63, RETIRED PRESSMAN, DIES IN LOCAL LODGE ROOMS Howard C. Layton, 63, of 627 Pine Street, died suddenly of a heart attack at the Eagles Lodge Rooms at 12:15 a.m. Saturday. The former Lithograph Pressman at the American Art Works, he retired from that position eight years ago. He was born August 25, 1887, a son of James and Eliza Jane St. Clair Layton, in Muskingum County. In 1922, he was married to Emma Jane Delong, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter and two sons by a former marriage, Mrs. Madeline Mahon, Columbus, Ralph Layton, Kokomo, Indiana and Jerry Layton, Salem; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Lynn, Zanesville; three brothers, Frank of Akron, Samuel of Zanesville and George of Coshocton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home, Rev. Donald Howard officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends will be received at the residence from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday and Monday and until noon Tuesday, than at the Dawson Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
