Notes
a. Note:   Claiborne Co, TN formed 1801 from Grainger & Hawkins Co., TN. 1810 Census - very incomplete for TN. 1820 Census - Springfield, Robertson Co, TN, pg 40. This is the only John Sanders in Tennessee that has four sons: 2 -10 & 2 +10. But, the John here is under 45. Wife doesn't match her age either. But daughters seem correct. 220010-110101 1830 Census Page Index - Claiborne Co, TN This is our line pg 104, Sanders, Marshal pg 105, Saunders, John [50-59] wife [40-49] 0302300100000-0012001000000. If this was the Rev War soldier, John's son, he should show age of only 47. This is consistent with the 1850 finding so he is not the son of Rev War soldier John. Two different families are here. -------------------------------------------------- This is Rev War soldier John line with two of his younger sons: pg 118, Sanders, Isaac [son of Rev War soldier] pg 124, John Sanders Sr, 70-79, wife only 60-69. Two Dobbs on same page. This is Rev War soldier. pg 133, Sanders, Abraham [son of Rev War soldier] John the Rev War Soldier dies 1833 and widow is in Franklin Co, TN by 1843, prob before. A son William is the exec. of estate [pension papers]. 1840 Census-Claiborne Co, TN our line... pg 202, Sanders, Jesse, 1m -5, 1m 30-40, 1f-5, 1f 5-10, 1f 20-30 eleven names then... pg 202, Sanders, John Jr., 1m 5-10, 1m 20-30, 1f 20-30, 1f 30-40 pg 203, Sanders, William, 3m -5, 2m 20-30, 1f 20-30 ================================================== [Rev War Soldier, John's, son.] pg 208, Sanders, Isaac, 1m 5-10, 2m 5-20, 2m 20-30, 1m4 0-50, 1f 5-10, 1f 10-15, 1f 20-30, 1f 40-50 ================================================== our line.... pg 250, Sanders, Willie [Wiley], 1m -5, 1m 5-10, 1m 30-40, 1f -5, 2f 20-30 together... pg 250, Sanders, John, 2m 15-20, 1m 20-30, 1m 50-60, 1f 20-30, 1f 50-60 Note: A James Barnard four names up. ================================================== 1850 Census Page Index - Claiborne Co, TN Dwelling # 012, Jessee, 47, TN and family [has a son Wiley] 140, Wiley TN 141, John Jr. TN 142, Jackson TN, 143, John Sr. VA 297, Winny Sanders and family, 56, NC 300, William Sanders and family, 36, NC 1200, David Sanders, 27, TN laborer, no family. 1850 Census - Claiborne Co, TN, John Sanders [77, VA] widowed, living with son Hampton [24, TN]. Jackson Sanders and family [37, TN] is direct neighbor to John above. John Sanders and family [37, TN] is direct neighbor to Jackson. Wiley Sanders and family, 45, TN, is direct neighbor to John Sanders, 2d from Jackson. ================================================== Not the son of Rev War soldier John Sanders of NC to TN for the following reasons: In John Sr. Rev War pension file his son John Jr. is listed as being born 2 September 1783. Probably born in NC. So there is a ten year age difference and different state of birth from the John Sanders in 1850 Claiborne Co, TN So he would have been just over 17 years old when he married. The widow of John Sr. was living in Campbell Co, TN in 1843 when she applied for her husband's pension. Son William was executor of estate.
