Was dismissed as a clergyman Aug 1, 1770, and became a civil Magistrate. --Birth record for his son HENRY in Andover Essex Co Massachusetts town records refers to him as "Mr Benjamin Butler" --According to DAR records, Rev Benjamin Butler served on committee for recruiting soldiers during Rev War in New Hampshire; He signed the Association Test Petition along with his son Henry Butler just before the Revolutionary War, as per "History of Rockingham & Strafford Co New Hampshire" chapter on Nottingham. --A detailed biography of Rev Benjamin Butler is available in the book, "Colonial Collegians" by Conrad Edick Wright, published 2005.
