Rust was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, on June 18th, 1820 and came to America in the year 1866. He was married to Altje Lolling and to them eight children were born. He died July 11th, 1908, at the age of 88 years and 22 days, at the home of his son southwest of town. His wife and daughter had preceded him to the other world several years ago. He leaves two sons, five daughters, forty-four grandchildrenand twenty-two great-grandchildren to mourn his death. In 1858 he was converted and joined the Baptist churchof which he has always been a faithful member. The funeral was held at the home of H.A. Rust on Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev.
