a. Note:   Laura Elizabeth Brickle was born April 16, 1878, in Kansas to William M. Brickle and Nancy C. Brockman. Census records (1880) of Anderson County, KS, City of Garnett suggest that her mother may have died shortly after Laura's birth as her father, William M. was remarried in 1879 to Rachel M. Ingram. There is a time lapse between 1880 and 1889 before Laura is found again living with a Woolsey family in Webb City, MO (Jasper County). From the names found in an autograph book of Laura's, the family might have been Newton J. Woolsey and Elizabeth Willson Woolsey who were both born in Vernon County, MO. Their first three children were also born in Kansas which may have been the family Laura was left with. There is also a possibility that the Woolsey's might somehow have been related to Nancy C. Brockman.
