Note: Avon D. Schwab graduated from Albion High School and from Anthony Wayne Institute in Fort Wayne, Allen Co., IN where he studied accounting and general business. On a lighter note he drove a Ford Model A to the summit of Pike's Peak with his friend "Tut" Ray on August 4, 1931 on their way to California. At one time he managed the Albion Theater and was with Albion Auto Sales from 1934-1939. In 1939 he went to work as accountant and manager of Excel Distributing Corporation of Albion. At the time of his father's death in 1945, he assisted his mother in the operation of Schwab Shoe Store (thus the third generation in this business) on a part-time basis but kept his position with Excel until his retirement from full-time employment in 1975. His retirement years were spent at his home at Skinner Lake, east of Albion and in Florida where he and his wife spent their winters. He died on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1985. Schwab Avon D, 75, Skinner Lake, died April 8 at Highlands General Hospital in Sebring, FL. He was born in Albion January 17, 1910, the son of Dale and Daisy (Stout) Schwab, and resided in Albion before moving to Skinner Lake in 1955. He married Mary Jane Lundy August 31, 1934 in Spencerville. He was retired from Excel in Albion and belong to Albion Masonic Lodge, St. Mark�s Lutheran Church and other area organizations. Surviving with his wife are a son, Avon Hugh of Clawson, MI; a sister, Mrs. Dwight Willits, Albion; and five grandchildren.
