This John Kennard was b. about 1683 and was the son of John Kennard and Rebecca Spencer. Further research by others has shown this not to be true. ******************************************************************** Anthony was not a Quaker at the time of his marriage to Elizabeth. ******************************************************************** Anthony left a will written 10 Nov 1792 and probated 9 Jan 1793. ********************************************************************* E-mail received 2002: "I have Anthony Kennard, son of John and Margaret Kennard, b. circa 1720 at Cheltenham Twp., Philadelphia Co., Pa., married on May 2, 1745 at First Presbyrterian Church (Philadelphia) to Elizabeth Townsend, dau. of Stephen Townsend, b. Sept. 4, 1725. John is supposed to have died circa 1792 in York Co., Pa. and Elizabeth was still alive in 1793. I have nine children listed: 1. Tacy (m. John Hays) : b. ca. 1746?; d. ca 1830 possibly in Northampton Twp., Bucks Co., Pa. 2. Joseph (m. 1767 Mary Dillon) : b. ca. 1747? ; d. 1834 in York Co., Pa. 3. Levi (m. Jan. 10, 1786 to Ann Preston); d. Jefferson Co., Ohio.; had at least two children: Anthony: b. Jun 8, 1788 in Philadelphia? Ann: b. ca 1792 in York Co., Pa. (m. Nov. 12, 1815 at Short Creek Monthly Meeting, Ohio to Stephen Townsend (again connecting to the same Townsend family). She died Mar. 12, 1835 in Sunsbury, Ohio. Her husband was the son of Joseph Townsend and Mary Hartley, b. May 25, 1795 at Solebury Twp., Bucks Co., Pa. and died May 3, 1850 at Sunsbury. They had six children and Stephen remarried on Nov. 16, 1848 at Sunsbury Monthly Meeting (Ohio) to Hannah Garrettson and had two more children. Hannah: b. ca 1751; d. 1794 7. Phebe (m. a man named Campbell): b. ca. 1752; d. 1812. They had at least two children: Joseph Kennard Campbell: b. ca. 1785? Townsend Campbell: b. ca. 1787? 8. Anthony (m. 1792 in Philadelphia to Jane Roberts): b. ca. 1754 9. Eli (m. June 8, 1786 to Elizabeth Blackledge): b. July 20, 1756, Bedminster Twp., Bucks Co., Pa.; d. May 29, 1823 in Belmont Co., Ohio. His wife was born in 1765 in Philadelphia and died Jan. 12, 1795 in York Co., Pa. He remarried in 1809 to Catherine Michener. Eli and his first wife had five children and with his second wife he had one more child. Children of Eli Kennard and Elizabeth Blackledge: William: b. Mar 25, 1787 in Bucks Co., Pa.; d. Aug. 8, 1862 in Belmont Co., Ohio. Hannah: b. 1788 in Bucks Co., Pa. Thomas: b. ca. 1790? in Bucks Co., Pa. Joseph (m. 1813 in Short Creek, Ohio to Hanna Thompson): b. April 23, 1791 in Bucks Co., Pa.; d. in Belmont Co., Ohio Mary: b. 1794 in Bucks Co., Pa. Child of Eli Kennard and Catherine Michener: Elizabeth (m. 1826 to Reuben McVey): b. 1811 in York Co., Pa.; d. Mar 24, 1882 in Morgan Co.OH. That's as far as I have on the descendants of Anthony Kennard and Elizabeth Townsend. I have other information that Anthony's older brother John Kennard married Elizabeth's aunt, Mary, sister of Stephen Townsend. I only have the names of their seven children: John (b. ca. 1726? ); Mary (b. circa 1728? ; Elizabeth (b. ca. 1730? ; Rachel (b. ca. 1732? in Bedminster Twp.?); Jane (b. circa 1734?); Hannah (b. ca. 1736?); and Sarah (b. ca. 1738?).
