Mathias worked here as a miner and married Anna Maria Gertrud Schaefer. He built himself a small house in the Steeler Rott, Rottstr. 12 - Hochstr. 12 now. The house was inherited by his youngest daughter, Anna Maria, married Eßler. It is currently very well renovated and maintained and owned by his great-granddaughter Barbara Petry. Mathias died on 16.04.1901 at 12:00 h of a stroke. He fathered eight children with his wife.
