a. Note:   e USS Chinook, a dredge boat for the Army Corps of Engineers. Edward was first married to Marion's wife Elvira Wilson. As per Camille: Marion taught Camille to play poker. She said he came home about once a year, usually around Christmas time. One day her bike was missing, and about three days later Marion showed up on it. He had ridden it to Aiken, SC and back. He got hurt in a hunting accident that blew his two middle toes off; he tripped while carrying a loaded shotgun. He was also a pot mender during the depression for food and lodging. He was a very skilled carpenter. He had blue eyes and thick dark hair and dark complected, and was always thin with a very prominent nose. He rolled his own cigarettes. He borrowed a mule from a neighbor to help plow the fields, the mule was skinny and didn't want to work. So, Marion let him eat and eat and eat until he coliced. He also taught them how to treat peach trees for borers. Marion played the "saw" as a musical instrument, he could make it talk. As per Betty: He used to stay with her and her parents. He was a very good carpenter and only came to town once in awhile.
