a. Note:   My grandfather used the name Paul Supprise, but his baptismal name was Moise Napoleon Surprenant. He was baptized in St. John the Baptist Church in the Arctic section of West Warwick, Rhode Island. His God parents were his aunt, Genevieve Surprenant, and her eventual husband Moise Coutu.
 I found a picture taken when my grandfather was about 12 or 13 years old - his name on the picture was given as "Paul Lemner" so at some point he must have used his step father's name. He was estranged from his father, Louis, but I have never known exactly why this happened.
 City directories for North Kingstown show Paul and Grace Supprise living on "Post Road" (now Tower Hill Road) in the Allenton section, in all directories Paul's occupation was listed as a chauffeur - these were directories for the 1920's.
