Notes
a. Note:   George Washington Turner was born Jan. 18, 1877 in Potters Hill, NC and died Mar. 15, 1959 in Goldsboro, NC. His Wife Ann Eliza Moore was born Feb. 18, 1884 in Pender Co., NC and died Feb. 25, 1932 in Turkey, NC. George was living in Pender County in 1900 with his brother David Green Turner when he met Ann Eliza. They were married March 12, 1902 in Pender County at the home of her parents Andrew Jackson Moore and Martha Ellen Moore. George and Ann lived in Bladen County, NC where their first son, Leon "Bud" was born. Their second child Katie Ruth was also born in Bladen County. George Washington Turner is on the 1902 Bladen County voter list as a voter in Bladen County. George and Ann were farmers and in their later years moved often. In their early married years they owned farm land in Potters Hill, NC. George also made whiskey and it was available to all who visited. He loved to play his banjo and often played for dances in the neighborhood as well as in his own home. George often told his grand children that he was one forth Indian (yet to be proven). Ann was a precious lady who took care of her home and worked on the farm. She sewed clothing for her family and canned food for the winter months as well as helping with the hog killings and making liver pudding and sausage. Ann and George were blessed Parents of eleven children of which two died as infants. All of us who remember them loved our grandpa and grandma.
