He attended Mustang and Jefferson School in Norman from 1915-1923. He then attended Norman High School and graduated in 1928. Irvin and Irma and several others used to go sing at school houses (church meetings) Sometimes a dozen or so in one car. Worked as bicycle telegram delivery boy at 16. Bought clock for parents. Clock in possession of son, Don. Enlisted in Oklahoma National Guard on Nov.7, 1927. Honorably discharged on Nov. 6, 1930 as a Corporal. 1st Batl. Hdq. Co. 179th Infantry. 5'10" Brown hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. Living with brother in law, Henry Bruemmer at 329 SW 46th in OKC, OK in 1930. He worked for Rich-Con Hardware in Oklahoma City as a packer and clerk from 2/1/1929 until 6/20/1932. He was laid off and then worked for Central State Hospital in Norman, OK as an attendant from 5/3/1933 until 2/3/1934 when he left for a better position as a Laborer in the Rock Island Railroad Shops in El Reno, OK. However, he only worked there from 4/15/1934 until 5/1/1934. Reason for leaving was "Seniority Rights". He then worked for Collins-Dietz-Morris Wholesale Grocery Co. as a truck driver from 5/1934 until 10/1935 when he left for a permanent job with O.G.&E. Wages at one time were $4.50/week and rent was $3.50/week. Lived at 1006 NW 7th in Oklahoma City in 1935 with Cleo and his brother John and his wife Juanita. He was hired by Oklahoma Gas and Electric as a laborer in the Oklahoma City Line Department on October 29, 1935. Lived at 206 SE 26th in OKC in 1937, transferred to the Woodward District as a laborer on June 5, 1937. He was transferred to Canton as a tree trimmer July 6, 1937. He was transferred to Guthrie as a tree trimmer on August 1, 1937. His next transfer, still as a tree trimmer was to El Reno on September 27, 1937. He went to Norman trimming trees on November 22, 1937. Back to Guthrie on April 1, 1938, back to El Reno on October 6, 1938 at which time he and Cleo lived with Mama and Papa at 421 E. Rogers, back to Norman on March 6, 1939, back to Woodward on July 1, 1939, back to Canton on November 6, 1939, back to Norman on December 1, 1939, Guthrie again on March 6, 1940; all these transfers were as a tree trimmer. On September 9, 1940 he transferred to the Construction department as an assistant working foreman; tree trimming. On October 1, 1943, he transferred to the Line department in the Central Division in Sapulpa as a linemen apprentice. On May 16, 1945, he moved on to Drumright in the Central Division service department as a secondary serviceman #2. He went to primary lineman on February 16, 1947 in the line department in Drumright. Next, he became a local representative at Canton OK in the Western Division electrical department on December 8, 1947. He was responsible for maintainence, repair, meter reading, and delinquent collections in Canton, Eagle City, Longdale, Oakwood, and Southard. He retired from O.G. & E. as a local representative on February 2, 1973. Worked for thirty seven years with that company. Lived in Canton until his death in 1984.
