Note: John and Helen Lanners farmed near Salem, South Dakota. In 1979 they retired and moved into the town of Salem. Salem Special, Salem, SD December 8, 1993 Funeral Mass for John A. "Jack" Lanners was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on 12-7-83. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Ball, Lester Garry, Gene Heiberger, Roger Reif, Barney Roling and James Rayman. John Lanners was born near Bridgewater, South Dakota on 10-28-1901 to Michael and Mary Welbes Lanners. He was married to Helen Raue at Salem, South Dakota on 6-4-1940. Jack farmed for many years in the Salem and Bridgewater areas. In 1979 he retired from farming and moved with his wife into Salem where they lived ever since. Jack passed away on Sunday 12-4-1983 at Colonial Manors Nursing Home, Salem, SD. Survivors include his wife, Helen, Salem, SD; two sons, Michael of Laguna Hills, California; and Edward of Foster City, California. He is also survived by two grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Anna Heiberger and Josie Garry and two brothers, Nick and Martin Lanners.
