Note: n Iowa. He is buried in Branson Cemetery, Loveland, Pottawattamie County, Ia. I have a photo of his grave in my file. I do not know why or when he left Oregon and went back to Iowa, and I don’t have any reason to believe he ever married.
IMPORTANT: Though some researchers claim he married Mary Emma Darland on 5 Feb 1893, and farmed in the township of Garner, THEY ATTRIBUTE THIS INFO TO THE WRONG JOHN SALES! The husband of Mary Emma Darland was a John H. Sales, who was undoubtedly a cousin of our John Robert. This John H. Sales and his wife, Emma, had the following children: Eliza Anna b: Nov 1893... Reuben A b: May 1896 in IA... Iola F b: 21 Jul 1898.... Cora M b: 1901... Herbert William b: 14 Jan 1903 in Omaha, NE... Martha Maude b: 1906... Edna J b: 1908...Mildred I b: Jan 1910... Vera b: 1912. There are graves at Hazel Dell Cemetery in Pottawattamie County, Iowa of John H Sales, “father”: 1871-1961, Mary E. (Emma) Sales, “mother”: 1874-1958, and James E. Sales, born and died in 1929].
