a. Note:   N8 According to Rose Gier's information he was born in Cherry twp. Sullivan Co. PA. According to his Death Cert. (wife informant), he was born in Dushore, PA. from FAMILY INFORMATION: Adam traveled from Minnesota to Durham, CA. sometime after their marriage in 1904 and before 1909. Later his wife and her brother, Walt Roberts, followed him.(According to Uncle Clarence Smith(see below). According to Grandma (Maude Roberts Rhoy) "We moved to California with my brother, Walter Roberts." Another version of this story, as related to Mary Roberts Maithonis, is that her father, Arleigh Roberts, came with them, or at least Arleigh came with Grandma (Maude Roberts Rhoy). He remembered that he had on a wool suit and it got really hot and that Grandma packed lunches for the train trip. Adam was from a large family with 2 sets of kids (one younger and the other set older).according to his son, Hayden Rhoy. He (Adam) was a steam engineer (existing certificate) and a carpenter. He belonged to the "Woodman of the World" lodge at Chico, CA. about 1926 (picture in binder). After WWI (about 1919/20) he bought a 20 acre almond ranch in Chico, CA. that he still had at the time of his death in 1939. Roberts Rhoy and some of her siblings about 1905-1908. His son, Hayden was born in Chico in 1909. He was a carpenter contractor, a stationery steam engineer and an almond grower. He belonged to the "Woodman of the World" lodge in Chico, CA.
