Note: Forsyth County, Ga., was formed from Cherokee Counity, by a law enacted 12/3/1832. Prior to 12/2/1830, it was a part of Cherokee Indian East, Cummings, the only town, is the county seat. The county was named after John Forsyth 1780-1841. Buckner and Seleta came to Winston Co., AL., from Polk Co. Walker (William Monroe Walker's wife), age 23, house keep, from AL., Nancy Walker, age 3, from AL., and Caroline Walker, age 1, from AL., (Verified) On the 1880 Census of Lawrence Co., AL., Buckner Walker is listed as 74 yrs old, Page 452 w/birthplace as Georgia. Also listed is grandson, Buckner Walker age 13. (Verified) Personal knowledge of Maggie Lee Walker Chambers, Seleta died nine days after Buckner died, and both are buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery, in unmarked graves. Military Service about 1861, Corporal served in Civil War, from Winston Co., AL. This is Buckner Jr. Southern Union Loyalists - Claims were submitted by residents of Winston County, after the Civil War to the Southern Claims Commission, a group enacted by Congress to give money to Union men that had materials (horses, food, etc.) taken from them.
