Note: d he owned Salters Leasing. He leased out tractors and tractor-trailer rigs. My Dad had a steel plate in his head right above his eyebrows from a mule kick (I believe that was the story) from childhood. Dad had also broken his back at about middle age and suffered with that for the rest of his life. I'm not really sure if Dad had any hobbies other than buying trucks and rebuilding them to sell. I actually saw my father and brother struck by lightning. It was when we lived in Polk City, FL on Mt. Olive Rd (at the big curve in the road right down the road from Mom, Dad, Marjorie and GrandMother Bell are buried). My Father and brother Don was pulling an engine out of a car using a big old tree and a chain. The lightning struck the tree and exited through my Dads' and brothers' toes and fingers. The blast burned each exit point! This is the information from my Mom and Dads marriage license. Dads' place of residence was 1023 Vanderbilt Circle Huntsville AL he was 18 years old. States he was born in Madison Co., AL. Occupation was at Redstone Arsenal. Also states his fathers name is James Anderson Salters and his Mothers name was Eva Holman It shows Moms occupation as Arsenal. and that this was her 2nd marriage and that she was divorced in Ozark, AL in Aug of 1944. It also shows her fathers name was John Bell and her Mothers name was Minnie Elizabeth Dease.
Note: Dad always worked as a long-distance truck driver when the kids were growing up. When he die
