Note: lhelm Jr., by George Wilhelm in 1867. Mary (aka. Maria) had two children, William Andrew Simons and Mary Ellen Simons, by Andrew Jackson Simons but no evidence has been found to indicate that they were ever married. In the 1870 census Mary Simons, age 22, was living in the 6th Ward in Allentown, Lehigh Co., PA, with Andrew Simons, age 49, a carpet weaver. Their two children, Mary Ellen and William Simons, were not listed in the census and their whereabouts in 1870 is unknown. Both Mary and Andrew were born in PA. (1870 census, microfilm roll M593_1362, Page 189B, house #69, family #81) After Andrew Simons died, Mary married Joseph Zobel/Sobel in 1879. They had one child, Mary Carrie Zobel, who died in infancy. In 1880 Mary Sobel (listed as Souggel), age 35 (can't read or write), was living in the 8th Ward in Allentown, PA with her husband, Joseph Sobel age 28 a laborer, and two children: - Ella Simons age 9 - Willie Simons age 6 Ella and Willie were listed as Joseph Sobel's step-children. (1880 census, microfilm #1146, Lehigh Co., PA, Allentown, pg. 189D) In 1910 Mary A. Sober, b. in PA, age 63, was living at 227 Railroad St. in the 6th Ward in Allentown, Lehigh Co., PA, with her husband, Joseph H. Sober, b. in Aust. Czech., age 48, a laborer on a railroad. Mary and Joseph had been married for 23 years. Mary was the mother of 2 children, who were both living in 1910. She died at the residence of her step daughter, Mrs. Edgar Bergstresser, at 1017 Spring Street in West Bethlehem and was buried near her parents in Jerusalem (aka. East Salisbury) Church cemetery in Salisbury Twp. "Morning Call", Allentown, PA, Wednesday, 27 January 1915, pg. 11: MRS. JOSEPH SOBERS Mrs. Mary Sobers, wife of Joseph Sobers, of 1017 Spring street, West Bethlehem, PA, died on Monday evening at 7:45 o'clock. Mrs. Sobers had eaten a hearty supper and was resting when she suddenly fell back in the chair and had passed away before Dr. Blose arrived. Death was due to heart failure. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rinker and was born 68 years ago in Salisbury township. Her first husband, who died in 1877, was Andrew Simon. Two children survive, William Andrew and Mary Ellen Bergstresser. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Joseph Sobers and this union was blessed with one daughter, Mary Carrie, who died in infancy. Mr. Sobers is employed by E. G. Grace. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church and attended regularly until a few years ago, when her failing health would not permit.
