Note: Judith S. Couch York Formerly of Springdale Judith S. Stacey Couch, 64, of York, formerly of Springdale, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 25, 2001) in her home. Born Jan. 2, 1937, in New Kensington, she was a 1954 graduate of Springdale High School and attended Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing, New Kensington. Mrs. Couch was a licensed practical nurse for 40 years. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained deacon for three years, elder for six years, former Sunday school teacher, youth group adviser, the church's delegate to the General Assembly in Kansas City, Mo., and participated in the church's Nativity figurine program. She also was a member of the Eastern Star. Of all her activities, that of Grandmothering was the most important to her. Mrs. Couch is survived by three grandchildren, Sara and Karen Dexheimer of York and Becky Couch of Columbia, MD: her husband, Samuel; and their four children; Jeffry Hultz Couch of Nichols, SC; Patricia Couch Loreto of York; Gregory Charles Couch of Columbia, MD; and Michael David Couch of Hellam. Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her parents, George Edgar and Leona McWhirter Stacey. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be Thursday at the Haines House of Eastminster Presbyterian Church after an 11 p.m. memorial service Thursday in the church. Her pastor, the Rev. Charles W. Holsinger, will officiate. Cremation will precede the service. Burial will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Deacons Fund of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, PA 17403; or to the Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Road, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
