Cromwell, Choctaw Co, AL is only about 15 miles NE of Quitman, Clarke Co, MS. Gulfport, where Samuel David Todd lived later in life, is over 100 miles south of that. His first wife was pregnant for 8 years, had 7 children, lost 6 of them, gave birth to one more survivor 5 years later and died within the next 3 years. His second wife created 6 more children in 7 years. The husband is a medium size black-haired, blue-eyed Welsh American farmer who preaches the gospel on the side. His father is from South Carolina (probably) or Alabama. His mother is from Alabama. We know that the short move over the border from Alabama to Mississippi probably took place around the first part of 1930 since Joseph was born in Mississippi and he is listed as 2 or 3 months old in the 1930 census. So far I've found him only on 1910, 1920, and 1930 census after searching over a year. Of those, the 1910 & 1930 list his parents as from Alabama; only the 1920 census lists his father as being from South Carolina. South Carolina might be more accurate and there are other Todds living nearby who say their father is from South Carolina.
