Note:   Obituary: (Seminole Sentinel) Seminole, TX published on September 19, 1981 FORMER LOCAL'S FATHER DIES Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in McLean, on Sept. 19, 1981 for Odell Fosque Mantooth, father of Ricky P. Mantooth, Superintendent of New Home Independent School District, formerly of Seminole. Mantooth, 71, a resident of McLean for 47 years, died in his home on September 17 of a heart attack. He was born in Walnut Springs, on July 1, 1910 and was married to Tressie Marie Pope in 1930. She preceded him in death in 1964. He had owned and operated the Mantooth Chevron Station in McLean since 1945, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McLean, the McLean Lion's Club, the Masonic Lodge 889, and had served on the McLean City Council for many years. Mantooth's mother, Mrs. Mary Mantooth of Weatherford, Okla., 92, preceded him in death only a week earlier on September 9. Services for her were also held in McLean, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Survivors include a son Ricky, of New Home, two daughters, Lynn Reeves of Fairfax, Va. and Beth Stribling of Waco; nine grandchildren, John Reeves of Sunnyvale, Ca., April Boarts, of San Carlos, Ca., James Reeves of Onalaska, TX., Becky Mayad of Dallas, TX., Lindsay Stribling of Waco and Kelly Stribling of Waco., Rick Mantooth of Lubbock, Julie Fleming and Jill Mantooth of New Home, and five great-grandchildren. ******************** Obituary: (McLean News--June 24, 1964) MRS. ODELL MANTOOTH DIES IN HOUSTON; RITES ARE HELD HERE Mrs. Tressie Marie Mantooth, 319 West Second, died at 9:10 A.M. Sunday in the M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the McLean Methodist Church, with Rev. J.B. Stewart, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, under the direction of Lamb Funeral Home. Mrs. Mantooth had been ill for more than a year. A resident of McLean for the past 34 years, she was born on Feb. 18, 1912 in Clark County, Arkansas and was married to Odell Mantooth in Hollis, Oklahoma on December 20, 1930. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star in McLean. Surviving are her husband; two daughters Mrs. Bethie Stribling of Longview, TX., and Mrs. Lynn Reeves of McLean; one son Ricky P. Mantooth of Rankin, TX., two sisters, Cleo Pope of McLean, and Mrs. Myrtle Dilli of Amarillo, TX.; two brothers, Jack Pope, Silver City, NM, and James Pope of Borger, TX., and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers were Buck Lee, W. W. Boyd, Shelton Nash, Bryan Burrows, Claude Powell, and Don Alexander.
