Note: Atkin, Alvin Lee - of Clio, age 97, died Sunday, September 25, 2005 at Genesys Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Stan Zurcher officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12-4 and 6-9 pm. Alvin was born August 4, 1908 in Millington to the late Amos and Flossie (Labby) Atkin. He had resided in the Clio area most of his life. Alvin married Ione Spencer on June 22, 1932. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1975. He then married Mary Carlyle on July 8, 1977. She preceded him in death on December 10, 1980. He was employed with Chevrolet for 21 years, retiring in 1950. He then started farming and lived on part of the original Atkin Homestead until his death. He was very active in his church including being a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Surviving are: children, Elaine (Robert) Monk of Clio, Mildred Wagner of Davison, Daniel (Kyoko) Atkin of Clarkston, Samuel (Patricia) Atkin of Clio; 4 stepdaughters and 1 stepson; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, George (Catherine) Atkin, Frances Warington, Lois Murda, Letha Mohl, Wayne (Tawny) Atkin, Avis Murphy; many nieces and nephews. Alvin was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
