Note: th Elizabeth Walker, his neighbor's wife. When Gen. John Walker went off on a military campaign, he asked Thomas Jefferson to take care of his wife, which Jefferson did. When Walker returned in 1768, he discovered that his wife had been sleeping with Thomas Jefferson. According to Jefferson Historian Fawn Brodie, John Walker challenged Jefferson to a duel, but Jefferson declined. Later, Walker tried to make amends with Jefferson but Jefferson refused to come see him.
