Note: George Jefferson Wood, Jr. was the only child of his parents. He serv ed in World War II as a Raider in the Marine Corp for 36 months in the Pac ific Front. After he returned to New Orleans, he learned to fly at Lake Front Airpo rt in New Orleans while attending LSU, and when the Korean War approache d, he joined the United States Air Force, graduated from the Air Force Cad ets in Colorado, and flew 100 missions as a Fighter Pilot in Korea. He w as awarded the Korean service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, t he Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Air Medal w/2 Oak Le af Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked for the United States Department of Justice in the Border Patro l, then, became a pilot for TACA Airlines, and afterwards, Eastern Airlin es where he became a Captain. He retired in 1986.
