a. Note:   Occupation:Alex was a farmer. Better known as Ellic or Alex. Story told by Charles Richard Harris 11/30/05 "Uncle Ellic (Jasper) Gazaway only had a stump for an arm. We were visiting Granny (Rhoda Caroline Burns) in Arkansas in 1948 or 1949 and he took that stump and said "I'll show you what I can do with that." and he punched me in the stomach and I took off crying. He had lost that arm when he was out hunting and he was climbing over a fence when he shot his arm off. I remember when He picked up George (Harris) and I and put us up in this wagon full of barrels and we went to this place on the farm where they had an Artesian well. I think they had been drilling for oil but had struck water with this spring and the water just poured out. They had put a pipe in it and bent it to keep the water from pouring out. Ellic pulled that pipe around and filled all the barrels from that spring. That's how he supplied the whole town with water. He's buried there in Altus."
