a. Note:   Caleb Gassaway was enumerated on the 1820, 1830, and 1840 censuses as a resident of Union County, S. C. He seemingly had a large family of children though I only know three. In 1850 a Caleb Gassaway, age eleven, Caleb's son, was living in the household of Nathaniel and Sarah Rogers.
