Note: Leona graduated at the top of her HS class, continued her business education and worked for her husband's boss as private secretary where she met her betrothed. During WWII she worked a few years for the telephone company and later wrote a social column for the Peninsula paper, Burlingame Advance. She loved the horse races at Tanforan and Bay Meadows racetracks. She was an avid collector of antiques, scouring the thrift stores for lost treasures that people didn't know they had. She cared for an orphaned slightly retarded child of a neighbor after the parents passed away for some thirty years until his death. She and husband Marion loved their travels, especially to Lake Tahoe for her "nickel slots" gambling and to the Southland to visit relatives. Leona lived till age 84 enjoying her many grand and great grandchildren. My parents first, after marrriage, lived on 8th street in Alhambra until I was four years old. Mother was two blocks away from her parents. When dad was transferred to San Francisco around 1939, they bought a house at 431 Linden Ave., San Bruno where mother lived until her death.
