a. Note:   Came to America on the ship "KENT" in 1676/77. Master of the "Kent" was Gregory Marlow.
  William Hibbs was 12 years old. Came with the company of "Friends" from Yorkshire and London; there were 230 in number on the ship. They landed near Racoon Creek; New Castle, Delaware. Proceeded to Burlington, N. J. The "Kent" sailed up the Delaware River and anchored north of the present day Philadelphia on the New Jersey side of the river in 1677. The Quakers aboard the ship, including William Hibbs, founded the town of Burlington, New Jersey. William stayed in the custody of the Friends until 1683, when he moved to Byberry Twp, Philadelphia, PA.
  Married Hannah Howell (Houl) 3 years later, in the home of John Hart in cheltham, PA Colony, Quaker Rites; purchased a farm when he married Hannah Houl.
  William had a very strong character and considered himself somewhat above his neighbors, but lived among them and helped build the infant Republic.
