a. Note:   In 1871, James is listed as living with his Uncle's Oliver and Thomas and Aunty Mary at Carney Hill. He was working as a farm servant along with Thomas and Mary A who were either siblings or cousins. His Uncle had 121 Acres and his brother Thomas worked for him as a farmer and his sister Mary A worked as a house servant for him. In 1881, James and Elizabeth were living at 9 Stainton Street, Warton with Lindeth with their children John Richard, Jane Isabella and Thomas. James was working as an Iron Works Labourer. In 1891, James and Elizabeth were living at 22 Steel Street Ulverston with their children John, James, Fred and Sarah. James was working as an Iron Furnaceman and John was working as a paper mill hand. Fred and James Jnr were going to school.
