Notes
a. Note:   I am reasonably certain that Mary LAKATOS immigrated on the 'Friederick Der Grosse' from Bremen on May 27, 1897. She is listed as 20 years old, and is with her son Josef, Hungarians. The film is very hard to read, but it appears to list her destination as Manitowoc. I believe that Mary's husband Joseph SANDOR came to America in 1896, but that Mary stayed behind because she was pregnant. She then followed the following year with their young child. Josef's age is listed as 3, but I suspect this means 3 months.
Although the name on the 1920 census is given as SANDLE, and George is said to have been born in Pennsylvania, I believe this is Mary (LAKATOS) SANDOR. The names and ages of the younger children are exactly right for this family.
In 1930, Mary SANDERS is on Dishong Hill Road, with many of the same neighbors she had in 1920, so again I am certain it is the right person. Only John (age 22, i.e. born 1907) and Andrew (age 19, i.e. born about 1910) are still with Mary in 1930. Mary is listed as German, but speaking Slovak.
There is also an Agnes D. SANDOR, age 16 (i.e. born about 1913), listed in Johnstown as a servant with the family of Mary HILL (Family #65, Ward 18, Johnstown, ED 11-80, p. 177A). This could well be Mary's daughter Agnes (Aunt Aggie). Joe, George, Mary Elizabeth (SANDOR) KUPYAR, and Frank were all living in Youngstown in 1930, but John, Andrew and Agnes were still in Johnstown.
When Mary died in 1945, she was said to ahve 31 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
