Note: They lived on the Steele Family Farm west of Silverton, Texas for many years before moving into town. Alton was a farmer and continued until his retirement at about the age of 88. Alton died in September 1993. He died in a nursing home in Plainview, Texas. Alton also was a road commisioner for Briscoe County,Texas
