Note: Washington Evening Journal, a newspaper in Washington, Iowa. *************************************************** Rowena Margaret Myers, 89, of Washington, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services have been set for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at United Methodist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Don Hodson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pringhar, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Visitation will be Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m., at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund or United Methodist Church. Mrs. Myers was born on Feb. 14, 1914, in Primghar, to Hugh Ernest and Nettie (Wood) Brown. She married Charles Goodell on June 16, 1937, in Primghar. He preceded her in death in 1972. She married Thurlowe "Dutch" E. Myers on Oct. 15, 1977. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Myers graduated from Primghar High School and Morningside College, where she studied music, and St. Luke's College of Nursing. She moved to Washington in 1961 when her husband was transferred to the Montgomery Wards Store. She was a member of United Methodist Church and the church choir for many years. She enjoyed family, friends, and all types of music. Mrs. Myers is survived by three sons, Gregory Goodell and wife Kriss of Shenandoah, Gary Goodell and wife Peggy of Fairfax, Va., and Jeffrey Goodell of Layton, Utah; one daughter, Sandra Balfour and husband Ray of Madison, Wis.; 13 grand-children; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and one sister, Darlee Doreen Hunt. ***************************************************
