Note: old to me...and wasn't my idea of a typical Grandma. All of the relatives called her "Mother Swindler". There were a couple of occasions when she let her guard down, and was down right fun. I think she felt she had to hold a certain persona. She bought me a music box once. It is the only present I can remember receiving from my Grandma. I really believe she appreciated my mother for helping her the last few years before she entered the Nursing facility in Dickinson. It showed on her face when she was in our home. I remember feeling that. She had been hospitalized for about a month. She was born at Stockholm, Sweden on April 9, 1887 to John A. and Ingrid Peterson Arvidson. She married Marion F. Swindler at Madison, South Dakota on January 23, 1906. They lived in Madison after their marriage moving to Mott in 1914. Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Mary Collins, Great Falls, Montana; John, Allan and Clyde, Mott; Wilmer, Gillette, Wyoming; Lawrence, Gold Creek, Montana; Mrs. Viola Grose, Napa, California; Mrs. Sadie Bleick, Mott; Ray, New Leipzig; Floyd, McLean, Virginia; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Smith, Montevideo, Minnesota; Mrs. Ruth Alne, Everett, Wash; on brother Albert Arvidson, Winfred, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband who died April 10, 1967; one grandchild, two great grandchildren, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held on June 28 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church at Mott. Rev. Henry Goldsack will officiate. Mrs. Charles Wyman and Mrs. Ernest Blickensderfer will play the organ and piano with Mrs. Don Olson and Mrs. Richard Swindler singing the special music. Pallbearers will be Curtis Burwick; Leslie; Marion; Ronald; Richard and Kerry Dale Swindler. Interment will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery at Mott. Arrangements by Erdman Funeral Home at Mott. <i>Apparently they had a child born between Alan and Floyd that died. </b></i>
