  Since it indicates eleven children, they must have had some between Pious and Mary Jane and Samuel and Joel. These must have been stillborn or died in infancy, or may have been born enroute to California, though I doubt this.
  In 1880, out of eleven children, just Morris and Joel are left. That means Pious, Mary Jane, Samuel, Daniel and John have all died prior to 1880.
