Notes
a. Note:   N290 This is "Molly". She was my mother in law. She wasn't a warm person or one you felt you could get close to. She had a good talent for art and enjoyed painting in water color and acrilic. She came from a large family, one sister and four brothers. [I think she always felt like her older sister Winny was prefered.] She had a depressed feel about her and a sense of duty that felt oppressive in her. I think that the loss of her second son, Teddy, after a long illness of about 8 years duration depressed her terribly and that she never had help or support in processing the loss. She used alcohol to enable her to be disinhibited enough to be comfortable socially and after about 50 years of age became more and more dependent on alcohol and tranquilizers. I think that she loved me as much as she was capable of. I did find her negative and judgemental, competitive with me. I feel sad about her and her life and wish things could have been better for her and our relationship. I always had the feeling she was withholding anything she felt I wanted. { I haven't missed her much since she died.}
 One of the things that I valued in her was her acceptance of politics on the left side of the spectrum. She told me she never voted for a Republican in spite of the fact that she was married to one. She was also very accepting of Lesbian women which was unusual for her generation.
