a. Note:   BURIAL SITE of son Nathaniel Boone: Boone Family Cemetery, near Ash Grove, Missouri.
 Take Highway 160 through Willard to Ash Grove. This road becomes Boone Street, once you enter the city of Ash Grove. About midway through town, turn right (east) on Highway V and go 1 � miles to the Nathan Boone Homestead. The visitors center and homestead are on the south side of the highway.

  Transcription of a letter to his sister-in-law in 1816, written by Daniel Boone while he was staying with his son, Nathan Boone, in Ash Grove, Missouri (courtesy of Father Moses Berry of Ash Grove):
  Dear Sister
 with pleasure I had a Later [letter] from your Sun Samuel Boone who informs me that you are yett Living and in good health Considering your age I wright to you to Latt you know I have Not forgot you and to inform you of my own situation Since the Death of your Sister Rabacah I live with flanders Calaway But am at present at my sun Nathans and in tolorabel health you can gass at my feelings by your sun as we are So near one age I Need not write you of our own satuation and Samuel Bradley or James Grimes Can inform you of Every Surcumstance Relating to our famaly and how we live in this world and what chances we Shall have in the next know not for my part I am as ignorant as a Chile all the Relijan I have to Love and fear god believe in Jesus Christ Do all the good to my Neghbors and myself that I can help and trust on gods mercy for the Rest and I Beleve god never made a man of my pricipel to be Lost and I flater my Stilf Dear sister that you will on your way in Cristionaty gave my Love to all your Children and all my friends

  Nathan Boone Homestead Days was held the third weekend of September for many years. Beginning in 2008 it was moved to the third weekend of October. A Boone family reunion also takes place at the same time.
  A historic marker is located near the entrance to the visitors center building. Here is the inscription:
  "GREENE COUNTY / HISTORIC SITE / LOG CABIN COMPLETED / BY NATHAN BOONE ABOUT / 1837. / GREENE COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL / 1833-1983"
