Note: Thomas was baptized December 22, 1811 at Twyford Parish, Thorpe-Satchville, Leicestershire, England. He arrived in America at Castle Garden Port in New York on September 30, 1834 on the ship "Canada" from England his age 23 occupation 'Smith'. He married, in Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut October 31, 1842 to Jerusha Smith by Comfort Fillmore, Deacon. Thomas is mentioned as being of Parma, New York. Scott & Conway's NY Alien Residents 1825-1848 list Pridmore, Thomas to NY 1834 #8258 page 90. Thomas Pridmore of Parma, Monroe County, NY October 16, 1844 deposition on file to own land. Land act of April 21 1825. Son Ansel died 1850, age 1 year, was ill 21 days with Summer complaint. Thomas died of chronic bronchitis and was buried July 26, 1890 in Root School Cemetery (now known as Cook Cemetery) in Clarendon, New York. In Thomas' will he directed " that my first wife and a son that lie in the Glidden Cemetery, be taken up and removed to the Root Schoolhouse Cemetery and place beside my last wife and myself and that there be three (3) head stone put up, one for each of my wives and one for myself and the expense not to beceed one hundred dollars and the expense to be paid from my estate, this is my request". (note, I found no stones in the Root Schoolhouse Cemetery nor in Glidden Cemetery, there is no evidence his wish was carried out). 1850 Census, Hartland, New York Thomas Pridmore age 38, Farmer, Born England Jerutia Pridmore, age 36, Born Conn. According to Land Records, Thomas lived in Parma 1844, Hartland 1844- 1851, Clarendon in 1851-1866 and North Bergen 1867 to 1890.Genesee County Gazetteer and Business Directory 1882 lists Thomas Pridmore, age 80 1/2 S. North Bergen, Page 305. Thomas Pridmore's Will is file #173. On file in the Genesee County Surrogate Court in Batavia, New York. Also in the file with his will is document for Guardian for his Grandson and a document pertaining to a mortgage on his North Bergen property. His obituary appeared in July 23, 1890 issue of 'The Batavian', Batavia, New York. " Thomas Pridmore, Sr., died last Wednesday about 4 P.M. For several years he has been in delicate health. He came to this country from Northamptonshire, England when 22 years of age. He was twice married and was the survivor of both of his wives. Five children survive him: Chauncey, of Holley; Charles of Colorado: Frank of North Byron: and Thomas and Luella of North Bergen. He was in his 79th year. The funeral was held at the Church last Saturday at 1 PM. The interment was at the Root Schoolhouse Cemetery".
