I've noticed your posting(s) on Enoch, but have discovered that Enoch's father is listed as Zaccheus Scribner, Jr. AND Isaac Scribner, Jr., and was wondering if you could shed some light on this for me? Enoch was born, raised, died and was burried (Clarksville Cemetery)in the same county, but I just can't get a handle on it. Evidently, both Zaccheus and Isaac died w/out wills, so that hasn't been any help. Any help and/or source listings would be greatly appreciated, for I've been working on this for over 4 years, and no longer know where to turn. In appreciation, Patrick Scribner 1364 Amherst Way Woodland, CA 95695 (530) 666-5613 2006 email from: "Patrick Scribner" -- pscpa (at) pacbell.net Subject: Scribner Family Date: Sunday, May 21, 2006 9:39 PM - Mr. Forsythe: - My name is Patrick Scribner, Jr. (Patrick Sr., Marquis, Thaddeus, Enoch, Isaac Jr., Isaac Sr., Joseph, Benjamin) and my wife and I have been researching this line for almost ten years now. - During our research, I have been told that you have done much work on the Scribner Family, so I would like to inform you of an error, which we have discovered. - It has been reported that Samuel Scribner 1797 and Enoch Scribner 1798 (who were brothers) were the sons of Zaccheus Scribner of Balston Lake/Spa. THIS IS NOT TRUE, even though I've seen it in various "published" sources. - In 1797, Zaccheus Sr. wrote a will stating that Zaccheus Jr. had already died and he (Zac Sr.) was leaving Zac Jr.'s children his (Zac. Jr.'s) share of the estate. Zac Sr. even names his grandchildren, of which Sameul and Enoch are not mentioned. - The original will of Zac Sr. is in Saratoga County, NY, which I've seen with my own eyes. - Zac Sr.'s will was probated in 1805 and for some reason for the longest time, this was the date assigned to Zac Jr.'s death. - Recently it has been discovered that Zac Jr. died in 1790, not 1085, which was 7 years prior to Samuel's birth and 8 years prior to Enoch's birth. - Samuel and Enoch are the sons of Isaac Scribner and Sarah Hewitt, along with Margaretta, William Washington, John A., Evenile, Sarah, Lois and Mary. - Enoch, in turn, names three of his children after three of his siblings, William Washington, John and Sarah. - Furthermore, in the 1880 census, it states that Enoch is living with his brother's (Wm. Washington) daughter, Amanda Lyford, and he listed as her "Uncle". - Although there is no Death Cert. for Enoch, there is one for John, A., which lists his parents as Isaac and Sarah (Hewitt) Scribner. - A decendent of Samuel and myself, a decendent of Enoch, recently applied for and were accepted into SAR, based on the above mentioned information. - Although this information "adds" to the the total story, I was wondering if you had any information on my line? Obviously, we've compiled some data, but we are always interested in any and all additional information. - You come highly recommended by Chas. Scribner III, and I hope you will grant me the favor of a reply. - I can be contacted at (530) 666-2727 or by this e-mail address. - I hope to hear from you soon and please know that I greatly appreaciate all your efforts. - Thank you so much for your time.
