a. Note: !Evidence is stronger that Deborah Allen married Stephen Scribner Jr born ca 1740-1743 of Norwalk, Fairfield, CT (i.e. his father Stephen Scribner Sr born ca 1712 did NOT marry Deborah) see where it says "Rank of Private(2nd Regiment - 5th Company) French & Indian Wars 1762 " The American Genealogical Biographical Index about Stephen Scribner says born 1740 birthplace CT Volume 155 page 165 Rolls of CT men in Rev War. SO I, FORSYTHE, WILL SWITCH TO THIS 1740 BIRTHDATE NOW. Actual marriage records for Greens Farms CT, now Westport,Fairfield,CT -- in marriages by Hezekiah Ripley "Stephen Scribner of Norwalk & Deborah Allen, March 22" Since the marriages were for the above town and groom was not form there, the bride should be assumed to be in 1768 of Westport, Fairfield Co. CT and she was born on 8 Oct 1744 birthdate & calls the place Fairfield, Fairfield Co., CT; - THE ALLEN DESCENDANCY shows Deborah Allen's child Benjamin Scribner born 7 Oct 1775 and lists her husband as the younger Stephen Scribner born ca 1743 on that above website, NOTE THAT DEBORAH'S father is Ebenezer Allen, PROBABLY THE NAMESAKE FOR HER PROBABLE SON EBENEZER sCRIBNER BORN 1774, compiled here because ebenezer's oldest son was STEPHEN (There are only 2 Stephen Scribner names before 1802 in CT, beside 3 above) Residence: 1769 Bedford, NY 1 Residence: 1772 Norwalk, Fairfield, CT 1 Abbrev: Families of Old Fairfield Title: Jacobus, Donald Lines, compiler and editor, History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield;(Baltimore, Genealogical Pub. I hadforgotten that Mr. Jacobus had also assumed that Martha Allen was the wife ofEbenezer Allen. He was such an excellent researcher, that we shouldn’t feelbadly about reaching the same conclusion. Looking back, I remember years agoreading my records over and over, but something didn’t feel quite right, untilfinally I realized the truth! Martha was not his wife! And then Isearched until I found she was his sister! They were the only two single youngadult children of Ebenezer – except the three who were too young. Yourquote stated the same[ erroneous] conclusion Mr. Jacobus had reached, [asexplained below]: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=++++ Thank you for someadditional detailed information on Stephen Scribner, Jr. I am enclosing a copyof the 1759 document you mention concerning, Allen & Jenkins. Note; theactual wording of this document does NOT designate Martha Allen as Ebenezer’sfirst wife! (It was my first assumption too). Actually, the only Martha Allen Icould find was; Martha Allen, born 19 Aug 1737, the unmarried eldersister of Ebenezer Allen[Jr.], born 21 Jul 1739, both were born in Fairfield,Fairfield, CT! Evidently theirfather, Ebenezer Allen had given them a piece of his land - or else was ill atthe time and not up to conducting business. The two older children of Ebenezer& Deborah Allen were already married before 1759 – 1. Sarah Allen, born 3 Aug 1732, married abt 1756, Wm Jenkins; 2. Samuel Allen, born 10 Aug1734, married, 17 Jan 1757, Eunice Nichols; 3. Martha Allen, born 19 Aug 1737,single in 1759; 4. Ebenezer Allen, born 21 Jul 1739, single in 1759, marriedlater- 16 Feb 1764, another Sarah Allen (dau of John Allen & SarahBennett). The last three children of Ebenezer & Deborah Allen were; 5.Moses, born 27 Sep 1742; 6. Deborah Allen, born 8 Oct 1744, and 7. ThankfulAllen, born 20 Jul 1748, who were all younger and married later.
