They did not like it but given land as inducement to stay, that contract expired 1694 and they returned to Norwalk CT. The first child evidently died born 31 mar 1681 maybe also named Thomas?; REFERENCES: History and Genealogy of The Families of Old Fairfield, pg 522-523.; A History of the Scribner Family, by Edwin Monroe Scribner, bef 1832, pg. 11-14; The Scribner Family, by Joseph Scribner, Rosendale, Wisconsin, pg. 3, 15-19. - !CT vital records in book form , called Barbour Collection at Yakima [WA] Valley Genealogical Society library March 2014 I, Warren Forsythe, looked for Scribners of 1700s and very early 1800s in those books: (in general many of the records asserted in above Scribner genealogies just do not appear in the CT vital records compiled as above) [I searched especially records for towns lying near the path from Norwalk CT and the CT border at southeast corner of Dutchess Co. NY where John Scribner, son of Benjamin born ca 1655, removed to by 1730s] specifically Norwalk CT has some records but omits most asserted records Wilton CT was copied by me, Ridgefield CT was copied by me, New Fairfield CT records evidently not in Barbour collection under that town name, Sherman CT nor New Milford CT nor New London Ct, nor Redding CT had no Scribner/Scrivener type surnames in those vital records, Danbury CT had a couple Scribner vital records, but one before 1827; Weston-Fairfield had maybe only about one early records: 24 sep 1766 Elias Scribner md Lydia Bennett; and Milford CT had maybe only one record from 1700s: 21 June 1797 Joel Scribner md Mary Bull (or surname ~like Bull?); - 2013 book Volume 11 eleven of book: Settlers of the Beekman Patent By Frank J Doherty pub.
