Note: N14 From Catherine Mourning Zimmerman: Daughters of the American Revolution Rodger Mourning enlisted 1777, as a private in Capt Noah Abraham’s company, first battalion, Cumberland Co. PA militia. Born in Ireland. Died Kentucky. A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians: The Leaders and ..., Volume 2 Rodger came to this country in 1775, settling in Botetourt county, VA and in that same year enlisted in the Revolutionary war and served in the Continental army for several years. He was woulnded in the battle of Guilford’s Court House, NC while fighting under General Greene By his first wife he had two children, whose descendants are now livnig in Illinois and Missouri. Roger’s second wife was Jane Kennedy, a Scotch ladyd, who came over in the same vessel with Roger and his family. Roger Mourning brought his family to Kentucky in 1796 and settle in Green county where they spent the first year ina tent while building a home.
