Her father was a house painter and her mother, a housewife. At 10 years old in 1901, her mother died and Clara was left to be raised by her father, older siblings and 2 old maid aunts, Fina and Trinksha. Meeting Stanley Kearney at a wedding of a mutual acquaintance,Clara and Stanley married in 1912 at St. Alphonsus Church in Chicago. They had 2 children, Stanley Jr. in 1918 and Mary Ellen in 1926. Clara was completely devoted to her husband and family, sewed very well making Mary Ellen's dancing costumes and wedding dress and also a good cook. Some of her receipts (German potato salad and coffee cake) are still in the family. Clara had a good sense of humor. She cared for her father and Aunt Trinksha at the end of there lives as well as helped other family members during the Depression. She had a terrible fear of dogs. During her lifetime, Clara suffered from heart problems and passed away from complications in 1956.
