Arno St., Precinct 26, SD 170, ED 18, Sheet 14 ____________________________________________________________________________________ Referred to as "James" in the family, John James was born September 6, 1893 in South Mound, Neosho Co., Kansas to John Robert and Susan Emma (Beaven) Abell. The name "John J. is found in the 1900 census as well as the New Mexico Death Index. In 1900, John James (6) is found in Albuquerque, NM at 917 S. Arno Street with his father, JR (49), a car repairer, mother, Susan Emma (39) and siblings Robert (16), Curtis(15), Joseph (13), Orie (11), Mary (9), Bertha Lou (8) John James (6), and Roy (3). The family migrated west between 1897 and 1900. James died of cholera on December 6, 1901, at age 8, just after his mother's death. John James is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., New Mexico. (Section SB-SE) There are some minor discrepencies with dates for James. In the New Mexico Death Index, it states he died in 1902 and was 6 years old when he died, 1901 and 8 years old are correct. The gravestone states he was born in 1894 and died in 1901. Again, 1893 and 1901 are correct.
