a. Note:   1900 Federal Census for Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois - 932 George St., ED 787, SD 1, Sheet 22 ___________________________________________________________________________________ Elizabeth Von Scheven emigrated to America in 1883 with her husband, Mathias, and oldest 3 children, Cecelia, Peter and Mathias. There is a family story from Loretta Bisdorf, that Leo, the 4th child, snuck in under his mother's skirt. Elizabeth was expecting him on the voyage and he was born in November 1883 in Chicago. In 1900, Elizabeth is found as a housewife living with her entire family and 2 sisters. Elizabeth eventually had 2 more children, Gertrude in 1886 and Clara in 1889. On November 11, 1901, Elizabeth died of heart failure and is buried in St. Boniface Cemetery. Illinois Death Certificate #00001637 At the cemetery there is one, tall, piller-like headstone with only Elizabeth's name on it (hardly legible). The Bisdorf monument is located very close to the cemetery office building near Clark Street. Also buried at this site are Mathias Bisdorf, her husband, Josephine Von Scheven, Chatrina Von Scheven, Thomas Stanley Shearin and an unnamed infant. The unnamed infant may be the child of Leo and Mae Bisdorf or Peter and Rose Bisdorf. Both couples had an infant that died at birth.
