Arno St., Precinct 26, SD 170, ED 18, Sheet 14 1930 - Santa Fe, Santa Fe Co., New Mexico - ED 25-14, SD 1, Sheet 17A, Line 39. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Bertha Lou Abell was born April 6, 1892 in South Mound, Neosho Co., Kansas to John Robert and Susan Emma (Beaven) Abell. In 1900, Bertha Lou (8) is found in Albuquerque, NM at 917 S. Arno Street with his father, JR (49), a car repairer, mother, Susan Emma (39) and siblings Robert (16), Curtis(15), Joseph (13) Orie (11), Mary (9) John James (6), and Roy (3). The family migrated west between 1897 and 1900. Bertha eventually joined the Sisters of Charity and took the name Sister Regina Marie after her younger sister who passed away in 1901. In 1930, Regina M. Abell (Sister Regina Marie) is found living at St. Vincent's Sanitarium and Hospital in Sante Fe, Sante Co,. New Mexico. She is a nurse. Sister Regina Marie's nursing specialty was working with premature babies and was considered by many to be an expert in their care. She was especially fond of them and called them "my babies". Sister Regina Marie passed away in April 1973 at Mount Saint Joseph, Hamilton Co., Ohio at 81 years of age. Mount Saint Joseph is the site of the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse. Although not verified, Sister Regina Marie is probably buried there.
