Note: I found the name Petrus Josephus Bisdorf in the LDS IGI files. Catholic church records were written in Latin. Petrus Josephus is simply the Latin version of Peter Joseph. At first I only saw the similarity of the name to Peter Joseph. When I found the 1852 immigration on the "Advance" with Matthias the son and Matthias the father and all the birth dates matched the ages as of August 9, 1852 I became sure that I found the lineage. The names Matthias, Peter, Gertrude and Clara come up over and over in the Bisdorf family. The repeat of the names also gives credibility to this genealogy. Peter Joseph Bisdorf, his grandson, was named after him. The Mass Card from Peter's death states that Anna Lorscheidt, Peter's second wife, was his wife for 7 years, therefore, she is not Mattias' mother. The Mass Card also says that Matthias' 3 children were at the grave site. This means that Anna and Matthias had 2 children during their short marriage. "Germans to America" Ship: Advance - Havre to New York Date: 9 August 1852 Passengers: Bisdorf, Matthias (carpenter, age 52), Bisdorf, Peter (Engraver, age 28), Bisdorf, Clara (Engraver, age 25), Bisdorf, Mattias (Child, age 2).
