Notes
a. Note:   Johnna Gorg Batz is listed aboard the ship "Phildelphia 1732" to Phildelphia, Pa.. After disembarking he was called Johnna Gorg, Georg, George Betz. A prior correspondence with someone (name forgotten) else following a different line also indicated his fathers name was Betz and when Johnna George Betz boarded the ship he was listed as Batz (German sounding as Betz). Johnna George Betz and family were located in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. From the research I did on Andreas Batz, I knew Andreas and family had to be in that area somewhere. A number of factors came into play in this search. Finding Andreas Batz instead of Andrew Potts. Finding Susanna Batz being born in York(city), York County, Pennsylvania, and seeing that Andreas Batz was in fact her father. Another factor in this was knowing the about dates of Andreas Batz or Andrew Potts birthdate. It has always been between 1747 and 1751, When the Betz family was found in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Andreas Betz birthdate was 12 July 1749. That fit just fine between 1747 and 1751 birth dates everyone had given Andrew Potts. Prior searching and reading kept me close to Lancaster County because York County had been created from part of Lancaster County and another county. I had maps of the time frame these counties were sole counties and when they formed York County. (All destroyed in a fire during one of my mental breakdowns). Also, I knew of the "Kings Road" that ran from here to the Carolina's. Records for York County are found in York County, Lancaster County and the other County (if I can dig the name up again, I'll mention it). So never believe that records are found in only one state, county, or even one country. Don't believe that your family may have only one name change either. The language barriers that were very common in the early history of this county has caused many folks to look for variations to their family names.
