Notes
a. Note:   It is believed John Train Ballard was born and raised in Tinmouth, VT. as was his brother, Orange. At 18 years of age he married Chloe Terrill in her hometown of Middleton Springs, VT. John and his new bride ventured north to take up residence in Milton, VT. John was a farmer and he acquired 2 acres of land just north of the Milton Falls. Located where the present Arrowhead Rd and Route 7 intersect. John and Chloe had seven children, six boys and one girl. Their youngest son, Charles, died when he was about 9 years old. He was buried in the Middletown Cemetery. John's wife Chloe died in December of 1849 after giving birth to Charles. This left John to care for and raise seven young children all under the age of twelve. In February 1850, just two months after Chloe's death, he married Mary Gilder who had been residing in Georgia, VT. John and Mary had two children, Chloe [Jennie] and Charles Orange Ballard. John resided in Milton until his death which occurred somewhere between 1871 and 1874, It should be noted that the name Orange was carried on in the name of his brother [Orange Train Ballard] and Grandfather [Orange Train]. John named his forth son Orange Train Ballard and his last son Charles Orange Ballard.
