Note: Simon married Anna Gabriela Descoins Belair in Santa Domingue, Abt 1789. When the revolution in Santa Domingue erupted Simon with his family fled to America (NYC) after a short stay in Puerto Rico. Simon and Ann's Marriage record from Cap Francais-Civil records Vol 23 1789 is listed on page 45 of LDS Film # 1094173 A good reference is the "Old Demopolis Land Office Records,1818-1860" and "Records of the Olive and Vine Colony". In 1818 Simon ventured to the Mississippi Territory (Alabama) where he was sold 480 acres land ($2/acre) to work. It was called the Olive and Vine Colony and was made up of Frenchmen and their families who had fled the revolution in France and the Islands Colony failed and Simon returned to NYC and according to 1830 census he lived with his one daughter, his son Edward and another lad probably his nephew, by the name Simon Nicholas Potier. His wife Anna and one daughter were not listed in the NYC 1830 census, It is assumed his wife was deceased and his daughter possibly married while living in Demopolis.
