Notes
a. Note:   Birth:Wisconsin Pre-1907 Vital Records, Births Death:California Death Index ,1954 Edna Chloe Fisher was born on January 4, 1901 in Ashland, WI. She attended school in Ashland and when the family moved to Nymore, MN in 1910 she attended and graduated from the Nymore Public School. In 1915 she moved to Rose Lake, Idaho with the Fisher family. Edna at the age of 15 got a job with a family in Spokane, Washington. After about a year in Spokane Edna ventured to Seattle where she got a job with the telephone company. Edna's younger sister Ruth joined her in Seattle [1920]. In 1923 Edna, with her sister Ruth, migrated to the Los Angeles area where she joined her sister Grace and her husband Ben Labonte and sister Izetta with her husband George Cowan and daughter Shirley. Edna was employed by the telephone company. She married Hubert Keller and after a short marriage they got divorced. Edna married a fellow telephone company employee, Herb Parker who was a widower with a daughter. They lived in the Sunland / Tijunga area. Edna retired in the mid 1940s and Herb retired in 1950. In 1947 they built a house in Sunland where they would live during retirement. They like to travel and did so during the early 1950s. Edna died in November 1954. Edna along with her sister Ruth came to help my mom during my birth back in 1929. Edna was serious about living near New York City, she even went as far to file an application and take a physical for the NY Bell System. She did not pass the physical and thus she returned to California where she was still employed by the Pacific Bell System. I got to spend a few weeks with Aunt Edna and Uncle Herb when I was visiting the area in 1945. They were living on a small ranch in Tijunga which had previously been owned by a Japanese family. The Japanese family at the time was interned for the duration of World War II. The Parker's had a couple of horses, some chickens and a large victory garden. Aunt Edna played a great piano and she had a good singing voice. We had a lot of fun singing together. I enjoyed my stay with them. I remember shooting a shotgun in the air in celebration of V-J Day which occurred in August of 1945 while I was staying there. The last time I saw Aunt Edna was in the late summer of 1947 when I had a Chinese diner in Wilmington, CA, with her and my other Aunts: Izetta and Ruthie. I was in the Merchant Marine and my ship had docked in San Pedro.
